NWTN has been on a roll. What started as a couple of glass gravity bongs has turned into a full lineup: the Deco, Vesper, Highball and Bolla gravity bongs, plus bubblers, hand pipes, ashtrays and a mortar and pestle grinder. It all looks like vintage glassware, and it all looks good on a shelf.
That's why NWTN keeps showing up next to our Capsule Water Pipe. Both are design-forward pieces built to be left out instead of hidden. But they work completely differently, and that's the part most comparisons skip.
Yes, we make the Capsule. Here's the honest breakdown anyway.
First: A Gravity Bong Is Not a Regular Bong
This is the biggest difference, so let's get it out of the way.
A gravity bong uses water to create suction. NWTN's version has two glass pieces: an outer shell you fill with water and an inner core. You push the core down, light the bowl, and slowly lift the core up. As it rises, it pulls smoke into the chamber. Then you take the bowl off and push the core back down as you inhale. The whole chamber goes into your lungs fast.
A water pipe like the Capsule pulls smoke down through the water as you inhale. The water cools and filters the smoke before it reaches you.
So the real question isn't NWTN or Capsule. It's: do you want big, dense hits, or smooth, cooled hits?

NWTN: What They Do Well
Design
NWTN's whole pitch is a gravity bong you'd put on a bar cart. The Deco has fluted, Art Deco style glass. The Vesper is softer and rounder. The Bolla leans into bubbly 1980s shapes. Most come in eight colors like Baltic Amber, Emerald and Lapis. If you want your smoking gear to match your living room, they're very good at that.
Hits
Gravity bongs hit hard. It's the main reason people buy them. If you want a few big pulls and you're done, a gravity bong gets you there fast.
Price
At $78 to $108, NWTN costs less than half of a Capsule. Replacement bowls run about $14 to $16.
Cleaning
Four simple glass parts, no percs, no curved necks. NWTN recommends sea salt and isopropyl alcohol. More on what works in our bong cleaner guide. It's one of the easier glass pieces to keep clean.
NWTN: Where It Falls Short
Harsh hits. Big, dense hits come with less cooling. The smoke isn't bubbling through water on the way to you, so it can be rough on your throat, especially if you're newer to smoking.
It's all glass. The shell and core are both glass. A drop, or a slip while cleaning, can end the piece.
Doesn't travel. Two glass cylinders full of water don't belong in a backpack.
Short coverage. NWTN asks you to report arrival damage within 15 days. Used items can't be returned. They're known for good customer service, but there's no long-term warranty.
The Capsule: What It Does Well

Smooth hits. Water filtration cools the smoke before it gets to you. With the right water level, it's an easy, smooth pull. Here's what the water actually does.
Comes fully apart. Every surface can be reached and cleaned. The glass is dishwasher safe.
Travels. The Capsule packs into itself and fits in a bag. The Carry Case protects it on the road.
Built to last. Stainless steel and aluminum handle most of the abuse. If the glass breaks, we sell every part on its own, and the Capsule is backed by a lifetime warranty.
Still looks good out. Gear Patrol named it Best Bong in 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. It's not hiding in a closet either.
The Capsule: Where It Falls Short
Price. $200 vs $88. That's a real gap.
Fewer colors. NWTN has eight colorways. We have black, silver and a couple of limited glass colors.
Gentler hits. If you want the full gravity bong rip, a water pipe won't give you that.

Who Should Buy Which
Buy NWTN if: you want big, fast hits, you love the vintage glassware look, it's staying home, and you want to spend under $100.
Buy the Capsule if: you want smooth hits, you want to take it places, and you want a bong that gets fixed when it breaks instead of replaced.
Honestly, plenty of people own both. A gravity bong for weekends and a daily water pipe aren't the same tool.

FAQ
Is NWTN a good brand?
Yes. NWTN makes hand-blown borosilicate gravity bongs and bubblers with a strong design focus and a lot of happy customers. They just don't offer a long-term warranty.
What's the difference between a gravity bong and a regular bong?
A gravity bong uses water to create suction that pulls smoke into a chamber, then you inhale the whole chamber at once. A regular bong pulls smoke through water as you inhale, which cools and filters it. Gravity bongs hit harder. Regular bongs hit smoother.
Do gravity bongs hit harder?
Yes. The smoke is pushed into your lungs all at once, and it gets very little cooling from the water. That's why they're known for big hits.
Can you travel with an NWTN gravity bong?
Not easily. It's two glass cylinders and water. If you want a bong that travels, the Capsule packs into itself, and our travel bong list has more options.
Which is easier to clean?
Both are easy, since neither has percs. The Capsule comes fully apart and the glass is dishwasher safe. Our guide on how to clean a bong works for both.
